I am reaching out to let you know what's been going on at Dwight. First, we had our first virtual all school meeting. Students enjoyed a wonderful slide show created by Shannon Pascone, we discussed some upcoming events, Mrs. Robinson addressed all students and bid them a fond farewell and I complimented them on their ability to wear their masks and follow all of the new procedures and protocols we have put into practice this year.
Second, we are getting ready for Dwight-A-Thon which will begin on the week of October 26th! This is the PTA's largest fundraiser. We couldn't provide all of the enrichment activities and resources for students and teachers without our amazing PTA and fundraising efforts. Mr. Conner has created warm up videos and separate courses for Grades K-2 and 3-5. Each class will have its own time to run/walk the course.
Third, Halloween!! We will allow students to dress up on Friday, October 30th for Halloween. We ask that there are no props or costume masks as students need to wear the face coverings they traditionally wear to school.
Finally, we have hired a Library Media Specialist to fill Mrs. Robinson's position. Mr. Brophy is coming to us from Norwalk, CT where he served as an elementary principal. He was also an administrator in Wallingford and Westport. Mr. Brophy started his career right here in Fairfield as a Grade 1 Teacher and Instructional Improvement Teacher. We are thrilled to have him start with us on October 21st!
