The Percentage of 4th and 5th Graders who take a musical instrument

Beginning in Grade 3, all students are encouraged to play a musical instrument.  While third graders play recorders in class and in concert, fourth grade students can choose a string instrument: cello, violin, viola, or bass.  In fifth grade, interested students can opt for a band instrument, such as a flute, trumpet, clarinet or other such instruments.

100% Devoted to Green Initiatives

Each day during lunch, parents assist students in discarding their lunch into categories of trash, compost, and recyclables.  Our parent-directed Green Team plans assemblies highlighting special projects for reusing and recycling.

14 Clubs

After the Bell Clubs Per Semester

The Timothy Dwight PTA manages After the Bell clubs throughout the school year.  Offered to students in all grades, these clubs capture the spirit of multigrade play.  They include Dodgeball, Soccer, Arts and Crafts, Baking, "Lights Camera Action", and "Potions and Spells," a light and lively chemistry and magic club.

14,235 Books

Fiction and Non-Fiction Library Books

Hundreds of books are checked out each week by all students in K-5.  Of the nearly 15,000 titles, almost 8,000 books are non-fiction--the most common of which are books about animals (particularly sports and dogs).

Popular fiction titles include numerous series books and scores of graphic novels.  We also boast a very significant collection of Connecticut Nutmeg novels.
